The Afterparty, which involves a murderer's row of comedians playing murder suspects, is at the top of this weekend's roster. Tiffany Haddish, Sam Richardson, and Ilana Glazer are just a handful of the names in this true-crime parody that will make you chuckle.
In terms of parody, The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window takes a sarcastic look at female-focused psychological thrillers. Kristen Bell, who made a name for herself as the Queen of Snark when she portrayed Veronica Mars, stars in the comically lengthy title.
For more serious fare, Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellows debuts The Gilded Age, a period drama that pits old money against. new money in New York City's parlours and dining halls.

All of Us Are Dead (Netflix)
If you're searching for a new Korean drama to watch while you wait for Squid Game season 2, this zombie thriller could be precisely what you're looking for. In fact, some of the finest zombie films and television episodes have come from Korea (if you haven't seen Train to Busan, why not?!).
All Of Us Are Dead is based on a famous webtoon and takes place in a high school that becomes the epicentre of a zombie virus epidemic. The captive kids must battle their way out or risk becoming infected. They rely on friendships, form alliances, and endure betrayals in order to survive.
The Afterparty (Apple TV Plus)
This Christopher Miller/Phil Lord comedy, directed by Miller, features a comedy booker's dream cast. Tiffany Haddish portrays a detective who is called to a murder scene during a high school reunion afterparty. The victim, Xavier (Dave Franco), is a popular pop/movie star who was disliked by his old classmates, who all become major suspects in the killing.
Each episode contains a recounting of the night given by a different character in a different genre. The performances of Sam Richardson, Ilana Glazer, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Zo Chao, John Early, and Jamie Demetriou will have you rolling on the floor. In this scenario, crime does pay... in chuckles.
The Gilded Age (HBO)
Julian Fellowes, the creator of Downton Abbey, places his new period drama in the title's luxurious era, 1880s New York. New money is flooding the city, but old money looks down on it. Agnes van Rhijn, a snooty socialite, is leading the latter's campaign against grabbing mushrooms (Christine Baranski). The entrance of new neighbours, filthy rich entrepreneur George Russell (Morgan Spector) and his ambitious wife Bertha threaten her well-defined global order (Carrie Coon).
Marian Brook, Agnes' orphaned niece, enters this social struggle (Louisa Jacobson). She may be descended from old money, but she and her companion, aspiring Black writer Peggy Scott (Denée Benton), have goals that do not fit into the existing system.
Home Team (Netflix)
If Home Team looks and sounds like an Adam Sandler film, that's because it is... sort of. Sandler produced the film under his Happy Madison label, which has a multimillion-dollar partnership with Netflix. And he enlists his old buddy Kevin James to star in the feel-good sports film based on true events.
James portrays Sean Payton, the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, who gets suspended from the NFL and ends up coaching his 12-year-old son's football team. It's a chance for the two to reconnect, as well as for Payton to get back to the basics of the game he adores.
The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window (Netflix)
This is the story of how we ended up with a gender-flipped quasi-sequel offshoot of a once-popular comedy that flopped. After How I Met Your Mother completed its nine-season run in 2014, the show's creators attempted to develop How I Met Your Dad, which failed (and thank goodness, because that allowed Gerwig to direct Lady Bird).
The writers of This Is Us, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, took another go at it, and here we are. Hilary Duff plays Sophie, a hopeless romantic whose elder self (Kim Cattrall) tells the same narrative to her son. The spinoff is more diversified than the original, and it has certain Easter eggs and callbacks that HIMYM fans will like.
Aziz Ansari: Nightclub Comedian (Netflix)
Aziz Ansari has been significantly less public since facing sexual assault charges in 2018. He reduced his touring schedule, produced only one big standup special on Netflix the following year (in which he addressed the incident), and played a minor role in the long-awaited third season of Master of None.
Now, two years after his special Right Now, Ansari is returning with this bare-bones recording of a surprise show at his old haunts, New York City's Comedy Cellar. The statute includes references to COVID (of course), the White House, and the benefits of flip phones.
We Need to Talk About Cosby (Showtime)
W. Kamau Bell's four-part documentary series unpacks Bill Cosby's damaged legacy, who was venerated as a Black legend and "America's Dad" for decades until he was accused of rape and sexual assault by over 60 women.
The documentary examines Cosby's life and achievements, measuring his horrible crimes against his global influence. It combines archive material with interviews with comedians, journalists, and some of the women who had terrifying encounters with Cosby.
Debuts on Showtime on Sunday (Jan. 30) at 10 p.m. ET/PT via Sling or Fubo (as a premium add-on)
