The MacBook Air 2022: Everything You Need to Know.

With the recent release of Apple's M1 CPU, the corporation has released a pair of laptops with unparalleled power. Apple is demonstrating that its new technology may contribute to exceptional performance and battery life with the 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple isn't finished, though, as we now have some details on the company's likely intentions for the next generation of MacBook Air. Here's all you need to know about it, including the release date, specifications, speculations, and more.

MacBook Air 2022: Release Date

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will debut the next MacBook Air in mid-2022, featuring a mini-LED display and a redesigned design.

According to Bloomberg, the next MacBook Air will be available in the latter half of 2021 or perhaps in 2022. Since we're in 2022, the first part of that prediction has proven false, but it's still possible that we'll see it this year. Bloomberg's information is sourced from "people with knowledge of the situation," and given that the piece was written by respected Bloomberg writer Mark Gurman, there's a strong possibility it's accurate.
The current edition of the 13-inch MacBook Air was released on November 17, 2020, therefore the following generation arriving at the end of the year makes logical. This, however, proved to be incorrect.
The iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7, iPad Mini, and other products were on display during Apple's September presentation. Unfortunately, no mention was made of the Macbook Air 2022. On October 18, Apple conducted their "Unleashed" event, and there was no mention of the new Macbook Air.

However, according to Twitter user @dylandkt, the next MacBook Air will be released in the middle of 2022.

MacBook Air 2022: Price

Given that the current-generation 13-inch MacBook Air starts at roughly $999 ($899 for school) and may go up to $2,649, it's logical to presume the MacBook Air 2022 will be priced similarly. We won't know for certain until later in the year.

MacBook Air 2022: Design

According to reports, the next-generation MacBook Air will be smaller "by decreasing the border surrounding the screen," but the display would remain 13 inches. This is a welcome improvement over the current MacBook Air, which has big, outdated bezels on both the top and bottom of the display. In a Twitter post, Gurman also stated that the revamp will be both slimmer and lighter. The current model weighs 2.8 pounds, so having its weight reduced to potentially match the 2.6 pound Dell XPS 13 is welcome news.

In addition, we anticipate that the 2022 model will include two USB 4 ports instead of Thunderbolt 4 for external connectivity. The single headphone jack will almost certainly return, however, we're hopeful Apple will include more connections on the MacBook Air. We also know that MagSafe charging is returning for the first time in several years.

According to Gurman, Apple briefly considered producing a 15-inch MacBook Air but finally decided against it. However, a 15-inch MacBook Air might still be released in late 2022 or early 2023.

Ian Zelbo designed a fan-made version of the MacBook Air 2022, drawing influence from Apple's iMac 2021.

This new design has a delicate pastel blue finish that makes the white keyboard appear to be drifting clouds in the sky. The speaker arrangement and connectors are identical to what Apple created with the prior MacBook Air model, making Zelbo's version realistic.

MagSafe for MacBook Air 2022

We also have reason to suspect that the MacBook Air 2022 will include MagSafe. MagSafe is a magnetic charging method that can simply and securely attach to the laptop, but if yanked, it will readily fall out without taking the entire device down with it. This functionality was last used in 2018.
If it does return, MagSafe will almost certainly be improved, especially since Apple's M1 processors have already greatly improved battery life. We also anticipate that consumers will have the option of charging through USB Type-C or MagSafe.

MacBook Air 2022: Specifications

The MacBook Air 2022, like the most recent MacBook notebooks, will have a variant or updated version of Apple's M1 processor. When we tested the 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, we discovered that Apple's M1 processor played a significant role in their superb performance and battery life. We expect the next generation of MacBooks to accomplish tremendous things if the M1 processor continues to improve with additional versions.
According to speculations, a more powerful chip named the M1X is in the works, although it is anticipated to be reserved for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. Otherwise, the MacBook Air 2022 will feature identical characteristics to its predecessor, including 8GB of RAM, a 256GB or 512GB SSD, a Retina display with TrueTone, Touch ID, and a Magic Keyboard.

What we want is a MacBook Air 2022?

When we tested the current version 13-inch MacBook Air, we were disappointed by the lack of an updated design and the presence of only a few connectors. Apple appears to be working on revamping the MacBook Air to make it smaller and lighter. The existing design has been with us for years, so we're hoping Apple will show us something genuinely spectacular.
The current MacBook Air has only two Thunderbolt 3 ports and one headphone connector. We know that the next MacBook Air will feature two USB 4.0 ports (hoping for one on each side this time), but we're not sure what else to expect. Hopefully, the MacBook Air will have a more diverse set of connections, including a USB Type-A port for older accessories.

We're also expecting advancements with the webcam. The newest model of MacBook Air has a camera that is superior to most other laptop webcams, although the pictures are still a little blurry. Perhaps adding a 1080p webcam will solve this, as the colors and brightness are already excellent on the existing model.
