The old Victorian house loomed over the woods, its dark windows like eyes staring down at me. I shivered and pulled my coat tighter around me. I didn't want to go there, but I had no choice. I had to find out what was inside.
I took a deep breath and walked up to the front door. It was creaky and old, and it groaned as I opened it. I stepped inside and was immediately hit by a wave of cold air. The house was dark and silent, and I could hear my heart pounding.
I slowly went through the house, my footsteps echoing in the silence. The rooms were all empty, and the only furniture was a few old chairs and tables. I thought maybe the house was empty after all, but then I heard a noise.
It was a low, moaning sound, and it was coming from upstairs. I froze my heart in my throat. I knew I should run, but I couldn't move. I was too scared.
The moaning sound came again, louder this time. I forced myself to move and started walking up the stairs. The sound was getting louder, and I could hear it coming from the end of the hallway.
I reached the end of the hallway and stopped. There was a door there, and it was slightly ajar. I could see a faint light coming from inside. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
The room was small and dark, and a figure was sitting in the corner. It was hunched over, and its head was down. I couldn't see its face, but I could hear its breathing. It was ragged and uneven, and it sounded like it was in pain.
I entered the room, and the figure turned to look at me. Its face was pale, and its eyes were dark. It had long, stringy hair, and its skin was covered in scars.
I gasped and took a step back. The figure smiled, and it showed me its teeth. They were long and sharp, and they were stained with blood.
I turned and ran. I didn't stop running until I was out of the house and back in the woods. I didn't look back, and I didn't stop running until I was home.
I locked the door behind me and leaned against it, trying to catch my breath. I couldn't believe what I had just seen. I knew I had to tell someone, but I was too scared. I didn't know who would believe me, and I didn't know what they would do.
I decided to keep it to myself. I would never go back to that house and tell anyone about what I had seen. But I knew that I would never forget it.
